This 12-day safari takes you through the most renowned national parks of Uganda. Its wealth of wildlife and its astonishing scenery make the country a wonderful destination for a safari, and Uganda’s national parks offer some of the most incredible and intimate wildlife viewing experiences you can find anywhere in Africa. The variety of habitats across the parks, from the forests of the Impenetrable Bwindi, where you will trek to see the rare mountain gorillas, to the sprawling savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will gamely drive to catch sight of the tree-climbing lions, ensures that you will encounter a breathtaking array of animals during your safari.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to, and check in at, Airport Guesthouse, Entebbe for overnight.
Balance of the evening spent at leisure with dinner under own arrangements.
After an early breakfast and a safari briefing, you check out and drive northwards to Murchison Falls National Park (350kms/6hrs).
En-route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided Rhino tracking experience.
You then continue to Murchison Falls NP arriving at Fort Murchison for dinner and overnight.
If time allows, enjoy a short, evening game viewing drive, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Fort Murchison – BLD
Following breakfast, enjoy a morning game viewing drive on the northern banks of the River Nile, in search of all manner of African plains wildlife from elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles to many species of antelopes as well as birds.
In the afternoon enjoy a Launch Cruise on the River Nile to the base of the majestic Murchison Falls where the mighty river squeezes her entire self through a narrow 7m cleft to tumble 43m down in a thunderous show of might and power; it is one of Uganda’s most incredible scenery.
Thereafter, disembark and hike up to the top of the Falls to marvel at the magnificent views over the falls itself and through the plains to the delta on Lake Albert.
You return to the lodge in time to refresh before dinner and overnight.
Fort Murchison – BLD
After an early breakfast, check out and drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
Kibale is also famous for its impressive population of over 1,400 chimpanzees, making it one of the best places in the world for primate viewing. Additionally, Kibale boasts excellent birdwatching opportunities, with over 375 species recorded, including the elusive green-breasted pitta and African grey parrot.
With lunch at a local restaurant en-route, arrive at Kibale Forest Camp for dinner and overnight.
Kibale Forest Camp – BLD
After breakfast, transfer to the park offices for a guided Chimpanzee tracking excursion in search of these cheeky apes which, at 98.8% of our genes, are considered to be man’s socially and genetically closest ape relatives.
After a magical encounter with your closest relatives, trek back to base where your driver/guide will be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for lunch and a rest.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a hiking/walking tour around the Bigodi Swamp, a community based conservation project popular for primates, birds and butterflies.
Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Kibale Forest Camp – BLD
After a relaxed breakfast, you check out and drive parallel to the Rwenzoris fabled mountains of the moon to Queen Elizabeth National Park (185kms/3hrs).
You arrive, and check in, at Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy an introductory game viewing drive in search of terrestrial mammals.
Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge – BLD
Arise at dawn with coffee, tea and cookies and proceed to the Kasenyi plains for an early morning game drive. In search of lions, Uganda kobs, large herds of buffalo and elephants and other early risers and nocturnal animals like hyenas, genet cats, if lucky even leopard. Early morning game drives are ideal for spotting overnight kills as well as fresh hunting before the sun gets too hot and the animals recoil back under shade. The light at sunrise is also excellent for fantastic photography including sunrise and birds.
You return to lodge for a late breakfast and time to relax and enjoy the lodge before lunch.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a 2½hrs Launch Cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for near guaranteed sightings of large schools of hippos, Nile crocodiles, wallowing buffalo, elephants feeding on the banks of the canal, many species of water birds and so much more.
If time allows, enjoy more game-viewing before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge – BLD
After breakfast, you check out and drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (350kms/6hrs) home of the rare yet critically endangered mountain gorillas.
With lunch at a local restaurant en-route, you will arrive, and check in, at Gorilla Valley Lodge in the evening before dinner and overnight.
Arise at dawn for an early breakfast then transfer to the park offices for your Gorilla Tracking excursion, arguably one of the most genuinely breathtaking wildlife experiences in the world.
After registration, all participants are divided into groups of 8, allocated a gorilla family to track as well as a specialist gorilla tracking guide then, at 0830hrs, briefing by your guide then transferred by car to the trailhead where the tracking on foot begins.
But the hour is always over ‘too soon’ and then you will hike back to base where your driver guide will be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a well-deserved shower and lunch or relaxation then dinner depending on time of return.
After a relaxed breakfast, check out and drive to Lake Mburo National Park (6hrs).
With lunch at a local restaurant in Mbarara en-route, you will arrive at Rwakobo Rock Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
Rwakobo Rock Lodge – BLD
Arise early and join your guide on an exhilarating, morning Nature/Bush Walk with an armed ranger and park naturalist guide; getting as close to nature as possible.
Return to lodge for a late breakfast, enjoy the rest of your day at leisure with lunch at the lodge.
In the evening enjoy an evening game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Rwakobo Rock Lodge – BLD
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, checkout and drive to Entebbe (252km/5hrs).
With a stopover at the Equator Point for a local lunch, a chance to take photos and opportunity to stop to buy a some Ugandan souvenirs to take back home,
You arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon/early evening and proceed directly to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
